Sometimes it needs to happen

Sadly things happen and you have to find a new home. It could be; someone died, find out there's an allergy problem, or you just don't like your cat and it doesn't like you. First try to work out the situation or find someone you trust to take owner ship of your pet. If that fails, then there are options. There are shelters (humane society, Cat-welfare, etc..) that will take your cat or kittens.
As of 2015, Humane Society in Franklin county is offer to hope reduce the euthanization of animals with a new program that helps people surrender their pets.
Call 614-777-7387 ext 208 and set up an appointment to have your pet evaluated. This process might take a few steps, but if its a good candidate then its better than throwing them out or giving them to just anyone. They might ask for a $15 donation towards the animal, but if you don't have it due to money issues, they should wave it. Plus all animals will be tested, fixed and micro chiped before they get rehomed.
Also, you can list your pet on Craigslist, but you have to ask for a rehoming fee of at least $25 because there are a lot of people who collect the free animals (some even show up with their kids) and act like its going to their home. Sadly, the reality is they turn around and sell the animals they collect to laboratories for testing or use it to feed snakes or dog fighting training. Then there are hoarders, they have good intention in the beginning...but soon they over over run with animals they can not take proper care of. Please do not just throw your pet outside or abandon it. Please give it to a shelter. It has a better chance. The myth, that cats that have lived its life inside and then get thrown outside, have natural instincts that kicks on survival mode is so false. They get run over, starve to death, deal with fleas, worms ,and poisons and repopulate the already out of control cat population. If you are feeding a cat outside that is great, but please remember is depends on you to feed it and please spayed/neuter it. There are catch and release programs that will help for feral cats and abandon ones, but sometimes they are seasonal. Check out the humane society for programs and catwelfare for assists. A feral cat is one who was born and raised outside, often rarely seen. All the other cats you feed outside, skittish or not ,were once own and discarded. You will do them a favor by fixing them even the males, lessening the fighting and spreading of diseases. So please, if you take on a animal and loved it at one point in its life, give it a chance on having a good life by re-homing it properly or having it put down, to save it from a long horrible death.
